Women in the Quran

14 sessions
The journey begins with a discourse on the overarching theme of the ahl or family. Aadam and his wife, married in the heavens and reunited on earth to fulfill their marriage, were the constituents of the first ahl. From there, Shaykh Mohammed Amin Kholwadia plunges us into the depths of the Quran and Sunnah, and brings to light many fascinating insights into the lives of some of the most prominent women mentioned in the Quran, with commentaries on their noteworthy qualities. More

Hikam Ibn ‘Ata Illah

25 sessions
Ibn ‘Ata’ Illah’s Book of Aphorisms (al-Hikam al-’Ata’iyya) is one of his most well-known works. Being one of his earlier compositions, it comprises what is contained in the lengthier and shorter works of the Sufis with greater clarity and concision. Commentators have mentioned that the Hikam comprises four sciences of Sufism: the science of admonition and reminding, purifying spiritual works and acquiring the inner virtues, realization of spiritual states (ahwal) and stations (maqamat) and knowledge bestowed from the Divine Presence. More

Qasiah Al-Burdah

7 sessions
The Qasidah Al-Burdah Al-Shareef (The Poem of the Mantle) is widely acclaimed as one of the most beautiful and profound poetic works praising the person of the last Messenger (may Allah send His prayers and peace upon him). In this lecture series conducted in 2003, Shaykh Amin provides the listener with the background and mindset necessary to read the work with understanding, develop a sense of love for the Prophet (S) and appreciate the intricacies of the nafs, all while sharing insightful interpretations of the first thirty-four couplets of the poem. More

The Ni’mah of Focused Worship

On this twenty-seventh night, Shaykh Amin defines the most valuable ni’mah from Allah upon His slaves, namely the taufiq to worship Him. He elaborates on the etymology of Ramadan as the name of a month, a state of purification and ultimately an attribute of Allah (S).

“Allah (S) through the Prophet (S) guided this ummah to collectively recite the Quran and listen to it, collectively, in a jama’ah.”

“The sahaba’s understanding of fadl was… that I was given the taufiq to do more ‘ibaadah.”

In Harmony With The Angels

Shaykh Amin continues the previous night’s discussion of Laylatul Qadr.

“(The angels) are gravitating towards Nur. The prophet (S) said that those who remember Allah on earth in any way, the angels in the heavens see those people as we see stars. So now when the whole ummah is collectively making the dhikr of Allah (S), reading the Quran, looking for Laylatul Qadr, invariably they (the angels) are going to gravitate towards something that they are familiar with… which is Nur.”

Note: The last five minutes of this talk were for the live audience only.

Receiving Laylatul Qadr

Shaykh Amin expounds upon how one must prepare to receive the Night of Power, a night defined by the barakah that Allah (S) puts into the recitation of the Quran.

“The prophetic mind is always in a state of du’aa. As Anwar Shah Kashmiri (Rahimahu Allah) has said… if you want to understand the mind of the Prophet (S), understand his du’aas.”

“…it is through ‘ibaadah that the ummah managed and regulated its years…”

“This is the night you’re in conference with Allah (S).”

Lessons in Tauheed from Surah Taha

Shaykh Amin zooms into the verses of Surah Taha describing the first conversation between Allah (S) and Musa (A).

“Allah is saying here… that sometimes you face a situation you believe is useful, but I have the power to make it detrimental. And sometimes you face a situation that you believe is detrimental, but I have the power to make it useful. Believe in Me, not in the utility of the picture in front of you, your circumstances, the objects of utility in front of you, although you (must) follow the ‘adab of Musa (A), that if it’s detrimental, you take precautions…”

Reflections on Surah Al-Israa and Al-Kahf

Delivered on the thirteenth night of Ramadan. Shaykh Amin shares amazing insights into time. He relates the verses pertaining to the Mu’jizah of RasulAllah SallAllahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam on his Night Journey and Ascension, as well the karaamah of the Companions of the Cave mentioned in Al-Kahf, to the verses of Al-Qadr.

“Every Muslim who goes through Ramadan, every day in Ramadan, is a living proof of the miracle that is Muhammad SallAllahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam.”

Muhammad RasulAllah

This talks builds upon the previous night’s (see Preparing for the Journey Home).

“You have someone who does not know how to read and write, and centuries before he came, he was already written (about)…. in the books of the People of the Book… So, RasulAllah (S) is not only Rasul for the people of Makkah and Madina, and for the jazeerah and for the Arab, and for the Muslims who came afterwards, he is also a Rasul for everybody who came before him.”

Delivered at Darul Qasim the night of Ramadan 7, 1437
